Warm weather at last.

Its starting to warm up and Addison just loves when she gets to go outside and play.I’m not big on getting dirty but she loves being outside playing in the dirt or sand or whatever is there that she can use to get her hands dirty. Her favorite things to do now that its getting warm would be going to the park she asks to go to the park everytime we drive past it she always says mommy I like the park. but since its been rainy she hasnt had the chance to go in the last few weeks. She also is always asking to go to aunt pageys softball games. She loves going to the ball games and watching Aunt P-P! Thats what I had Addison call my sister when she first started talking! My sister hates it along with the rest of my family but I think its funny! Hopefully soon the weather will get even warmer and Addison will get to go swimming which I know she will love. she enjoyed it last year but with her being a little bit older will make a world of difference and how she enjoys the pool!

Since we got home at the beginning of December and Christmas was coming and there wasnt much to do Addison and I stayed at home until I was going to start school in January. Addison is glad to be back at her grandmas playing every day. I started school in January as a full time student so I could recieve my grant through the state. I also found a job working at a daycare working 4 hours a day. Since I work at a daycare that puts addison at the top of the list to get into the daycare and she is so excited. Anytime we drive by my work she always says mommys work, me go to school! Its extremely funny. But hopefully within the next month she will be enrolled since a child from her age group is moving!

Our month in Idaho

Once in Idaho after unpacking and trying to settle in we started to realize that Adam and I didnt get along as well as we had thought. He was extremely stressed out with work and I was sick of sitting at home. That wasnt something I was use to I had never been a stay at home mom. All I did was clean and cook dinner for when he got home. But even having the house clean and dinner on the table he wasnt happy with us there. I had gotten a job as a substitute teacher at the local schools there. The night before I was suppose to start my first substituing job Adam and I got into our final fight and I called my parents to come and get us. They of course were extremely happen since they didnt want us to leave in the first place. I spent that night packing all night and my parents left the next day when they got off work and drove straight through just as Adam and I had done. That first day I spent packing while Adam lay around the house acting like a baby because he didnt go to work! Addison was so excited to get to see mamaw and papaw again. Addison took the move better then I could have ever expected but she was more than happy to get back to Indiana and see everybody she knows. We drove home on her 2nd birthday and she didnt know any better but I felt so bad so as soon as we got home the next day all my family was at the house and we had her birthday party. We were all so tired but relieved to have made it home in one piece.

The a little over a week before Halloween Adam rented the largest Uhaul trailor and we loaded all our stuff into it. It was packed all the way from the floor to the ceilling and from the front to the very very back! He had his car dollied behind it so the only thing left was my car to drive out there. He drove by himself plus our dog for 3 days in that huge truck and flew back after a few days of closings and all that fun stuff. On Halloween day we left for our new home in Nampa Idaho. We drove straight through even with miss Addison in the back seat. She did extremely well and we drove most the time at night so she slept most of the way. It wasnt until the last 5 hours or so we all got really tired of being in the car. Addison even started getting sick! we drove 27 hours straight through and finally made it to our new home which was absolutly beautiful!

Crossroads

After Addison turned 1 things slowed down or quieted down for a little while. She seen her father a few days after her birthday and that was the last time she seen him in over a year. She definitly grew up fast once she turned one she became a talkative little munchkin and a very busy little one year old. It was all I could do to try and keep up with her and get all the daily house chores done. during this next year I met a guy through my work who would take us on a journey that I do not regret because it was a life time experience for Addison and I. We made weekend trips to Chicago almost every weekend unless he came here. We went to the Zoo, the aquarium and walked on the pier too look at the “pool” as Addison called it! Then came the time that he got a job offer in Nampa Idaho which is only 15 miles from Boise. It was one of those jobs he couldnt pass up and we didnt want to try a long distance relationship any farther than Chicago because that was hard enough. So we decided we would move out there together!

Addison turns 1

December 4, 2008 Addison turned 1 I couldnt believe it had been a year since she came into this world and I couldn’t believe it had been a year ago that I went through all that pain! We all went to my grandmas and had her birthday party.. She got tons of presents as always but she was more interested in the cake she seen on the table. So we sat her down in her own little chair with her own cake. It was a decent size cake too it wasn’t the normal cupcake or small cake but she wasnt even sure what to do with it once we put it in front of her. I had to help her stick her hands in it then put it in her mouth and all over her face. she finally for the hang of it and got very very messy! she also started walking a little bit before her first birthday like most babies. she was definitly on the move all the time.

Insurance to help out

Luckily with me being a single parent going to school and working part time Addison quailified for Medicaid. There is all kinds of help out there if you look hard enough and it is different for every town and state. but I had to go into a building that has moved to a location I am unsure of so I cant even help you out there but they were extremly helpful and got Addison the insurance we needed to cover all the medical expensenses. The State has all different kinds of insurance one type they pay all the expensenses other types you have to pay a co-pay but either way is a big help to any single parent or low income family. I couldnt have made it through all of Addisons checkups and St. Mary visits with out the Medicaid. I am very Thankful.

Our first Medical scare.

I don’t remember the exact dates but she was going to the doctor for her one year check up and heard what I thought was the worst thing in the world. Since she was so small at birth her head size was very small also in the 5th percentile to be exact. My doctor thought her “soft spot” was closing to soon and to fast and she said if it was they would have to remove part of her skull. Any mother having to hear that news would feel like dying. I didn’t know what to do but cry then I called my mom who told me she would go with us to St Mary’s Hospital. We had to wait I think 2 days before they could fit us in to get a head scan. Once we got there and they had me lay her on that table then strapped her down she instantly started screaming. And it took everything in me not to break down. It took a couple different tries before they felt that they had a good enough picture to determine if she needed surgery…so they said they would have a Dr look at it and would call us with the results. So since mom had already takin the day off and so had my sister they wanted to go shopping I however was not thinking about shopping the only thing on my mind was the possibility that my 1 year old might have to have surgery. I’ll never forget getting the phone call we were in Dicks sporting goods store walking to the check out when a number I didn’t know showed up on my phone and I was frantic. It was the nurse that we had been with and said she was calling with GOOD NEWS! Addison was fine and she wouldn’t need to have any of her skull removed! Possibly one of the happiest days of my life!

Home at last…

So once we got home and my family went back to work, my sister went back to school I realized this could be a lonely few weeks before I went back to work. After my two weeks of not being able to drive I was willing to go anywhere just to get out of the house. Kind of Ironic the first time I got into the car with her to go somewhere it was obviously snowing being mid December the first song that played was Jesus take the wheel by Carrie Underwood! Just thought that was Gods was of saying he would take care of us! She had her first couple check ups with the doctor and everything was good she was the light of my life and everyone else around me. She slept all through the night for the most part which is not something most newborn babies do so I was extremely thrilled! Since I had missed some of school they didn’t make me do my make up homework all I had to do was come in for my finals. My grandmas watched her while I did that and they also watched her once I went back to work since I couldnt afford a daycare. Nothing to exciting happened just the normal enjoys of having a newborn around. but before I knew it she was rolling over and trying to crawl, then she was trying to sit up on her own she mastered all that before a blink of an eye. She moved to standing before I was ready! and getting into everything she could get her little bitty fingers into.

As the next few days passed by and Addison and I got to be more comfortable with each other it was time to go home. I’m pretty sure my mom was ready for us to come home she was sick of sleeping on the hospital couch..(she’s the one I had stay with me through the night) since I wasn’t in contact with the cool older guy. He did show up the evening I had her but started trouble with my dad so he was escorted out. Some people think it was wrong of me but put your self in my shoes. So it was time to go home and start our new life together…
